There are many galleries in Darwin displaying wonderful Indigenous art. The new Waterfront District, with its wave-pool, natural lagoon and trendy bars and cafés, is a great place to spend a day soaking up the sun. Crocosaurus Cove is a fabulous attraction where visitors can get up close and personal (and even swim with) huge crocodiles. The Mindil Beach sunset markets, a must for every visitor, are a great place to find unique art and craft, grab a bite to eat and sit on the beach watching the sunset.

In Litchfield National Park, only one and half hours from Darwin, visitors can swim in the refreshing waterfalls that plunge from the escarpment country. It's a pristine environment that visitors don't easily forget.

Dry Season (May to September) is the best time to visit, with low rainfall and temperatures averaging 21°C minimum to 31°C maximum. The Festival of Darwin, featuring outdoor theatre and music, runs from mid-late August.

Darwin is a small city with only light traffic, which makes it very easy and fast to get around. It is a 4 hour flight from all the Australian capital cities, or a 4 – 5 day drive. Visitors can also travel on the historic Ghan railway from Adelaide to Darwin, with connections from Sydney and Perth.
